Built on over 30 years of BIRDY engineering heritage, E-BIRDY blends iconic suspension folding design with intuitive electric assist, making it not only perfect for city commuting but also surprisingly capable on gravel and off-road terrain. A Ride That Feels Natural
At the heart of E-BIRDY is the Mahle X30 SmartBike system, delivering smooth, intuitive assistance that enhances your pedaling rather than overpowering it. Whether you’re cruising city streets or tackling a gravel path, the motor adapts to your cadence for effortless starts, climbs, and longer rides.
The Mahle X30 offers three power modes:
Eco for maximum battery life and gentle assistance
Normal for balanced power and range
Boost for extra help on tough terrain or when you want to speed up
This flexibility lets you tailor the ride to your style and conditions, making every trip comfortable and efficient.
Battery Power That Goes the Distance
The E-BIRDY’s removable 1.1 kg eX1 battery packs enough energy for up to 55 kilometers on a single charge. This range covers most daily commutes and urban adventures without worry. Plus, the battery doubles as a portable power bank, so you can charge your phone or other devices while on the move.
For riders who need more range, carrying a second battery is easy and doesn’t affect the bike’s handling or comfort. This setup means longer trips are possible without sacrificing the bike’s agility or folding convenience.
Hydroformed H-Series: Precision, Performance, Folded to Perfection.
The E-BIRDY features a newly redesigned hydroformed main frame to accommodate the battery system, marking the launch of BIRDY’s new H-Series (H representing Hydroform, High Efficiency, and Hybrid). Its signature front and rear suspension smooth out bumps and vibrations common in city streets, making every ride more comfortable.
The folding mechanism is vertical and compact, allowing the bike to fold quickly and fit into tight spaces. This makes it ideal for:
Storing at home or work
Taking on public transit
Carrying in a car trunk
The E-BIRDY’s hydroformed frame is designed with both performance and practicality in mind. It features a cleanly integrated swingarm and fork construction, flat-mounted brakes for a streamlined appearance, modular thru-axle specifications for both front and rear hubs, and improved folding clearance through an enhanced fork design and optimized front axle spacing.
Smart Connectivity with the Mahle SmartBike App
The Mahle X30 system connects to the Mahle SmartBike app, giving riders full control over their ride experience. The app lets you:
Smart Assist Modes: With torque or pedal‑assist sensors, the system can use AI‑assisted Smart Assist features to adapt motor support based on your pedaling behavior and ride conditions.
Ride Tracking: View speed, distance, cadence, battery usage, and performance stats after each ride — all within the app.
Integration with Devices: In many cases, the Mahle ecosystem works with smartwatches (e.g., Apple Watch) and cycling apps (such as Strava) to record activity and monitor health data alongside ride metrics.
